One of our clients has MEGA 2009 SP4 CP3 installed (using the LAN deployment model).
They want to upgrade to the latest version of MEGA 2009 (right now it's MEGA 2009 SP5 CP8).
From the upgrade manuals it is not understandable if it is required to install all the upgrades between the current version and the version they want to update.
Do they have to go through all the released versions: SP4 CP4, SP4 CP5, SP4 CP6,.... , SP5 CP7, SP5 CP8?
Is there another way of directly installing the latest version MEGA 2009 SP5 CP8?
It is a very cumbersome task to go through all the intermidiate patches. Is there any direct way of doing this (for instance using one of the full install executables?

Hi,
No, it is possible to do an update over the existing installation .
I suggest to keep a backup of your customized files in order to restore them once the new version is installed .
NB :
1- The Mega_Std folder contains the standard files, its content may be updated from version to version . it is always recommended to store your customized files in the Mega_Usr folder.
2- If Mega advisor is used, be careful on keeping a backup of the customized files from the advisor installation folder before uninstalling the current version in order to restore them once the new version is installed .

Thanks for the reply.
Just a clarification.
If you upgrade directly using the solution you mentioned, the recommended procedure is to install old version and then install the new version.
It is not possible to do an update over the previous installation?
Also, files that are stored in the Mega_Std folder?
We did some customized DOC and WEB templates that will require manual backup of some files that were deployed to that folder, correct?

Hi,
No it is not mandatory to apply all intermediate patches during an upgrade from an SP4 to SP5. in fact they can uninstall the SP4 and directly install the SP5 CP8.0 in the server then perform data upgrade.
NB: it is highly recommended to perform data upgrade in a test environment ( copy of the production) before applying it to the production one .
