Hi,

We are studying the mirgation of our Mega Architecture SP4 (with GBMS storage) to Hopix.

My question is : Is it compolsary to change our storage to RDBMS? what are your recommendations about storage?

Best regards,

Asmaa

Hello abaidas

RDBMS storage is not required for MEGA Architecture provided the repository size is below 4 GB.

However, consider this

  • GBMS storage is now deprecated and there are no evolutions: this is not the future.
  • GBMS storage is not supported if the size of the repositories is larger than 4 GB (already true with MEGA 2009 SP5)
  • RDBMS storage is required for most new products and all new solutions.
  • Various new platform features (scheduler, alert management...) require RDBMS storage.

When upgrading to HOPEX and reviewing the deployment, it is strongly recommended to switch to RDBMS storage or at least choose and infrastructure where you can switch storage to RDBMS later.

IT depends,

If you are just running MEGA Architecture in MEGA 2009 SP4 in GBMS, you can use the same database in MEGA HOPEX.

GBMS however has a limit in terms of size, whereas RDBMS like MS SQL or Oracle is unlimitted.

If you are using any of the new solutions (ITPM, ERM etc.) in MEGA HOPEX in the web client RDBMS is required.
