Active Directory userid in a multi-forest configuration with a firewall?

We have an interesting situation. 

We are running Hopex V1.2 CP3.

We have a situation where one domain of our forest is behind a firewall.  The domains have in place two-way trusts.

However, when adding a userid, we cannot locate the domain / userid in the Mega licensing utility.

What API / function does the utility invoke to read an active directory?

If you know which firewall ports we need to open, please provide them.  Otherwise please tell us what API you invoke so that we can derive the port(s).

Here are a few elements

1) With HOPEX V1R2, the users are identified with the login (login declared in HOPEX, not in active directory)

In first CPs of HOPEX V1R2, click on the menu add user of the utility licensing.exe displayed a window to search in active directory. This was not appropriate and fixed from HOPEX V1R2 CP3.0. User logins have to be entered manually.

2) From HOPEX V1R2 CP8.0, must licensing no longer considers domain
