Excluding a MetaAttribute from the Variation mechanism

Hi,

Is it possible to exclude certain MetaAttributes from the Variation mechanism? For example, we would want to include the Application Code attribute, but exclude the Comment attribute when creating a variant of an Application?

Has anyone done something like this?

A nice challenge :-). I like the idea. I have never done this, but I know that there are some parameters to exclude things when using compare and align, maybe  they are also applicable for variation.
